What is a GPS ?

GPS - The Global Positioning System is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense.

GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.

This begs the question why do I think that GPS more importantly stands for

It was a while ago when struggling with some issues asking myself "Where are you God"

- see poem  Finding God that I asked a friend help me find another name for GPS, but it must include God. She came up with the perfect definition

God's Perfect Sight

GPS technology is amazing. The small hand held unit on the top right is called a TrackStick. Similar to many GPS units this model is able to track many of my moves, whether I walk around the block or drive my truck around town. The Trackstick will tell me Where I went - What direction I went - How fast I walked or drove - How long I stopped - Even the altitude.

Even some Cell Phones are equipped with a GPS, so your Mom and Dad can find you in case of emergency.

NOW - if this small device with all of the technology behind it, can tell me all of that.
Can you begin to imagine that Our God who has His Perfect Eye, Sight on me, knows all of what the GPS unit is able to record and MUCH more than that!

I don't think there is a better description of what our God knows then as it is described in the Psalm 139 of the Bible.

Ps.139

O LORD, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.

You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my every thought when far away.

You chart the path ahead of me
and tell me where to stop and rest.

Every moment you know where I am.

You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, LORD.
 

You both precede and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to know!

 
I can never escape from your spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!

they outnumber the grains of sand!

And when I wake up in the morning,
you are still with me!
 

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my thoughts.
 

Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

WOW! That is a kind of scary isn't it. Does He really know all
of that, imagine God saying to you/me, you thought you could
hide from me right? Listen again as He says;
 

"Every moment you know where I am.

You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, LORD"
